Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Kairos: Pomodoro Timer mobile app (the “App”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use it. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
Summary
Kairos works fully offline by default. Your timers, presets, sessions, settings, and gamification progress are stored on your device and never sent anywhere unless you explicitly sign in and enable optional cloud sync. We collect anonymous usage and crash analytics to improve the App; you can disable analytics at any time from Settings.
Data we collect
1. Data stored only on your device
The following data is created and stored locally on your device and is not transmitted unless you enable cloud sync:
- Timer presets you create (name, color, durations).
- Session history (start time, duration, session type, preset used, completion status).
- App settings (theme, language, sound and notification preferences, keep-screen-on toggle, analytics opt-in).
- Gamification data (XP, level, streaks, unlocked achievements and themes).
2. Account data (optional)
If you choose to create an account, we use Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) to handle sign-up and sign-in with an email address and password. Your password is never stored or seen by us. You can delete your account from within the App, which removes your associated cloud data.
3. Cloud sync data (optional, premium)
If you are signed in and have an active premium subscription, the App syncs your sessions, achievements, presets, settings, and progress to Google Cloud Firestore. This lets you restore your data on a new device. Cloud sync is opt-in: it only happens when you sign in.
4. Anonymous usage analytics
We use Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel to understand which features are used and to improve the App. Events include things like opening the App, starting and completing a session, viewing the paywall, and purchase outcomes. Event properties describe the action (for example, session type, duration, preset metadata) and do not include your name, email, or message content.
If you are signed in, analytics events are associated with your Firebase user ID so we can count unique users; we do not attach personally identifying properties to your analytics profile. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy.
5. Crash and performance diagnostics
We use Sentry to receive crash reports of performance traces. These help us find and fix bugs. Sentry is configured with personally identifying information disabled.
What we do not collect
- We do not access your location.
- We do not use the microphone, camera, contacts, or photos.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers or run ads.
- We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data.
Third-party services we share data with
The services below act as sub-processors for the limited purposes described:
- Google / Firebase(Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Mixpanel (product analytics) — mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Sentry (crash and performance monitoring) — sentry.io/privacy
- Google Fonts(font files are fetched from Google’s CDN at runtime) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple App Store and Google Play handle billing for subscriptions and apply their own privacy policies.
Permissions the App requests
- Notifications— to alert you when a session ends.
- Exact alarms and boot-completed(Android) — to re-schedule notifications across device reboots so a queued session alert still fires.
- Live Activities(iOS) — to show a running timer on the Lock Screen and in Dynamic Island.
Your choices and rights
- Disable analytics:turn off “Share usage data” in Settings to stop sending events to Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel.
- Sign out: stops cloud sync. Local data on your device is retained.
- Delete your account:the “Delete account” option in Settings removes your authentication record and the cloud-synced data we hold for your account.
- Uninstall the App: removes all locally stored data.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA (for example, to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you). Contact us using the address below to make a request.
Data retention
Local data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Cloud-synced data is retained until you delete your account. Analytics and crash data are retained according to each provider’s standard retention policy.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International data transfers
The third-party services listed above may process data in countries other than the one in which you live, including the United States. Each provider applies appropriate safeguards as described in their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this page.
